Summer Jobs For Teens Will Be Scarse

Teens that are 15 years old are not often thought of as those wanting a job. Usually when teens turn 16 and want a car, that’s when they really want to start earning their own money. For those who are looking for jobs for 15 year olds, it might be a little harder to find employers that will take a chance on them.
15 year olds will most likely have no job experience and if a company has lots of other people applying, the jobs will go to those that are older. Perhaps it is easier if you are that young to get a job in a small town where everybody knows one another. In a small town, you are friends with a lot more people and it is easier to make job connections for young kids.
Finding jobs for teens at this time is hard because of the economic situation. Teens are usually the last ones to be hired because the have the least experience. For a teen, it always pays to know people and have as many connections as possible. This will give those that do the best chance of getting the few jobs that will be open. Of course there are still a couple of months between now and summer so the job outlook could change between then and now.
Another option for teens is to go on the Internet to see what opportunities exist there. Unfortunately online jobs for teens aren’t a much better prospect as most everything requires you to be at least 18. The only thing the internet can help teens do is to apply online for jobs and search for jobs. Learning how to use the online job sites is a skill that will serve them well down the road.
Short of a job with a real company, an enterprising teen can work to create his or her own job online or offline though through some sort of freelance work. Teens often know more about computers than their parents and if they can learn how to put these computer skills to work, they might be able to generate an online income. Teens know how to communicate and network online and with this skill they can get the word out that they are for hire. They also know how to make connections in their neighborhoods to find local work like mowing lawns and weeding gardens.
